The Geomagic SDK provides tools that 3D scanning manufacturers need to quickly add new capabilities to their laser-line and range scanner and hard-probe devices. Our SDK gives 3D scanning companies access to features that make it easier for their customers to turn a physical part into an accurate digital model. Specifically, the SDK contains static libraries, interface definitions, developer documentation, a sample project and sample user instructions.

The Geomagic SDK includes components for the following main functions that can be implemented individually or in combination within a single plugin:

  • A real-time scanning widget interactively displays a shaded, solid model as scanning takes place. This allows users to see exactly what has been scanned, resulting in a more complete data capture.
  • A range scan widget allows using a range device for collecting ordered data.
  • An alignment widget enables users to modify the coordinate system of incoming data to ensure greater accuracy.
  • A hard-probing widget provides step-by-step instructions for directly collecting features (hole, slot, rectangle, line) and datums (plane, axis, point, point target). This speeds processing of the digital model.
  • A real-time comparison widget for Geomagic Qualify, displays a texture-mapped model comparing the object being scanned with a CAD reference model. Users can immediately see deviations between a manufactured part and the reference design.
  • A probe capture widget allows the hard probe to collect data continuously.
  • A photogrammetry widget allows using a range device for collecting ordered data with target registration performed on sticker targets.
