Technology Preview

DICOM Importer for dental is an add-on to Geomagic Studio and Geomagic Qualify which enables the import of CBCT DICOM data. Use DICOM Importer to create a polygon mesh (STL) of impressions, teeth, restoration, maxillary and mandibular arches, and jaw structure for 3D printing or modeling in Geomagic Studio. You can also compare restorations to CAD or compare pre- and post-treatment dental data using Geomagic Qualify.

Application Notes

  • Imports standard DICOM files.
  • DICOM Importer requires Version 11 of Geomagic Studio or Geomagic Qualify.
  • Tested on Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
  • Proprietary formats are not supported.
  • The DICOM Importer has recently been updated. If you downloaded the add-on prior to August 28, 2009, we recommend that you download and reinstall the updated version.
  • If you require an evaluation license of Geomagic Qualify or Geomagic Studio, please e-mail dentalinfo@geomagic.com.
  • Registration is required to access files. Geomagic may send you product updates periodically. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Setup

  • The installation adds a new Labs > Import DICOM item to menu bar.
  • DICOM Importer can only open standard DICOM files and does not support other formats.
  • To learn about the workflow, please refer to the DICOM Importer User Instructions. (Registration required.)
