Some times, magic does happen. Figuratively speaking, I feel the sense of the magic touch while I am writing this blog post: Effective this morning, the 3D Design and Haptics businesses of Sensable have been acquired by Geomagic.
I have known Sensable since I started Geomagic. Over the years, we have had discussions in the past about combining our businesses, and now the right time has come. I am very excited because I believe that together we can create a great company of even greater value.
Geomagic and Sensable have great synergies; both companies developed highly differentiable products, and share similar markets and distribution channels. Both companies have innovative cultures, great people and excellent customer services.
Since I founded Geomagic, our vision has been to advance and apply 3D technology for the benefit of humanity. This acquisition brings an intriguing yet proven new dimension to fulfilling that vision.
The science of haptics brings a sense of touch to the user experience. Sensable is the leader in haptic input hardware and solutions, with a range of devices offering increasingly sophisticated capabilities.
Through this acquisition we inherited a portfolio of more than fifty patents and patent applications relating to haptics and voxel modeling technologies.
I’m extremely pleased to welcome Sensable employees, partners and customers to the Geomagic family. I look forward to seeing (and feeling!) what the teams will deliver.
