Geomagic Powers 3D Systems’ Cubify.com at CES 2012

Geomagic will be the technology behind the Kinect®-to-3D print app that is part of 3D Systems’ Cubify.com launch at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012).

This application, at an early stage of development, will demonstrate the automated process of 3D imaging and 3D printing for consumers. For CES it enables an instant 3D image of visitors at the event to be automatically turned into a 3D model and printed out on a 3D printer during the show.

Geomagic’s Kinect-to-3D print technology is fresh out of Geomagic’s R&D division, as an application built on top of Geomagic Studio®, Geomagic’s flagship software best known for its simple user experience and powerful processing tools for taking 3D scan data into design and fabrication. 3D data taken using this method can also be used for other purposes including design, testing, innovation, archive and prototyping.

Come to watch the Kinect-to-3D print in action, and get a model of yourself at CES at the 3D Systems’ booth # 13345.

You can see a video of the software in action at: http://youtu.be/0RsIUI0XVy0

All attendees will be able to get their face scanned using Geomagic and a Kinect scanner, and attendees can watch faces be printed out in 3D using 3D Systems’ latest 3DTouch printer, an affordable 3D printer newly launched by the company...

Geomagic is ready to go at Fab Lab!

The Fab Lab at American Tobacco Campus got underway today.  We got a sneak peak yesterday while setting up, and it looks great.  Shopbot is on hand to help you with fabrication, and the trailer is ready for you to visit as well.  A special thanks to the American Tobacco Campus for all that they've done to help get everything setup and ready to go.

Fab Lab rolls into Durham, NC: March 14th - 26 at the American Tobacco Campus

Have you been looking to "make stuff" recently?  Well, now's your chance.  The Fab Lab is coming to the American Tobacco campus next week, and we're helping pack it with some pretty cool technology. The best part is, you get to play with it.  Scanners, laser cutters, computer controlled milling machines, and a 3D printer will be on hand to help bring your creation to life.
