Geomagic, QTE Offer RevQuick, Automatic Surface Generation for Mastercam
ST. LOUIS, Mo., September 25, 2000 - QTE Manufacturing Solutions and Geomagic have teamed up to offer RevQuick, a new solution for Mastercam users that can automatically transform a 3D cloud of points into a watertight surface for manufacturing.
RevQuick requires no special CAD or 3D surface-generation skills. It creates an extremely accurate, watertight surface model that can be output in most standard formats, including IGES, STL, VRML and ASCII. Visit www.revquick.com for more information.
"Our customers ask us once or twice a month about how to effectively deal with a cloud of points," says Jeff Kleinheider, business development manager for QTE. "Until now, there's never been a point-cloud solution for Mastercam that works as well as Geomagic software. With RevQuick, I finally have a solution for my customer base."
The difference between RevQuick and previous solutions is Geomagic's patented algorithms for automatically generating accurate surfaces without the need for user expertise. “What used to take a week or more can now be done in a couple of days with RevQuick,” says Jim Dier, Director of Business Development, with Geomagic. "What took days now takes just hours."
The software, specifically targeted for the tool-and-die and molding industries, costs $10,000 per seat—a bargain for the time saved in man hours, according to Kleinheider. "It's very economical, especially compared to anything else out there that claims to be able to do what this software does."
Mastercam is an industry-standard CAD/CAM system with an installed base of more than 70,000 seats worldwide. QTE Manufacturing Solutions (www.qtecad.com) has been a reseller of CAD/CAM solutions and Mastercam for 15 years. Throughout its history, QTE has been dedicated to its goal of providing solutions to make its customers more capable, efficient and profitable. The company offers complete support and training for all Mastercam products and many third-party add-ons to Mastercam.
Geomagic is a software company dedicated to removing the barriers between the physical and digital worlds. Starting with the landmark computational geometry of co-founder Herbert Edelsbrunner, the company has developed a powerful enabling technology for digital duplication solutions that power 3D photography. The company was founded in 1996 and is based in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
