MORRISVILLE, NC, July 21, 2000 -- Geomagic announces a port of its Geomagic Studio 3.0 software to the Sun Microsystems' Solaris operating environment. Geomagic Studio 3.0 is a major new release of Geomagic's software that simplifies and streamlines the process of creating precise 3D computer models for design, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, 3D Web content and other applications. "Sun Microsystems is a dominant player in the major markets for Geomagic Studio, especially engineering and the '.com' world," says Jon Fjeld, Geomagic's CEO and president. "We expect this to open up the market for more professionals to discover the benefits of using Geomagic Studio to easily create a single 3D model that can be used for engineering, manufacturing, animation and Web-based applications."

Geomagic is a software company dedicated to removing the barriers between the physical and digital worlds. Starting with the landmark computational geometry of co-founder Herbert Edelsbrunner, the company has developed a powerful enabling technology that provides Digital Duplication solutions for design and manufacturing today, and a 3D foundation for future applications. The company was founded in 1996 and is based in Research Triangle Park, NC.
