Our goal with Studio 12 was to build upon the strengths of the product, improve the entire user experience and make a great thing even better. From easily accessible resources and shortcuts that are all available from the Getting Started page, to a new, modern and organized interface that you can customize as well as tooltips in the language of your application, Studio 12 has been redesigned to help you deliver results from day one.

Simplified parametric modeling workflow

The parametric modeling workflow has been optimized to be more flexible and user-friendly. The process of creating parametric surfaces from polygon meshes just got easier. We have reduced steps in the process and made it easier for you to move backward and forward in the workflow for faster design iterations.You also have the flexibility to edit regions and contours while keeping the unaffected surfaces.

Direct integration with leading mechanical CAD Packages

Directly integrated with leading mechanical CAD packages, Studio 12 makes it even easier for you to bring physical forms into CAD to jump start your product design and shorten product development time. Now you can create optimized, parametric CAD models, complete with model trees that are editable in your CAD package.

Greatly Enhanced AutoSurface

Since its introduction in Studio 5, AutoSurface has allowed you to convert polygon meshes into surfaces in one click. Now Studio 12 takes this powerful one-button command and dramatically improves it to yield higher quality, more accurate surfaces. We've also added a new interactive mode which will alert you of any problems so that you can fix it in-line during the process.

Constant radius blends

With this new option, you can now create connections between primary surfaces that have a constant radius, similar to fillets in CAD. The radius value can be automatically extracted from the mesh, or manually entered. Convert these connection surfaces into parametric fillets using the feature recognition tools available in your CAD package.

Automatic Surface Patch Merging

We've introduced this new command in the exact surfacing workflow to allow you to automatically optimize the patch layout by reducing the number of surface patches. The result is much fewer surface patches in the final model while maintaining the exact same accuracy.

Studio 12 is the first reverse engineering software that allows you to share your models as fully interactive 3D models that can be viewed by the free Adobe Reader. Now you can easily share your ideas and designs with your colleagues, customers and suppliers. They will be able to interact, rotate and experience your designs in 3D rather than with just 2D images.
